I Kept Saying “Maybe Someday”

MAYBE SOMEDAY
It’s one of the most common things we hear from people who are thinking about a boudoir session. Maybe someday, after I lose a little weight. Maybe someday, when life slows down. Maybe someday, when I feel more confident. Maybe someday, when I’m younger… or somehow better. The problem with “maybe someday” is that it has a way of becoming years.
Life keeps moving. Careers change. Families grow. Birthdays come and go. We spend so much time taking care of everyone else that celebrating ourselves quietly slips to the bottom of the list. Many people believe they need to earn the right to be photographed. They imagine there’s a future version of themselves who will finally be worthy of stepping in front of the camera. A little thinner. A little more confident. A little more comfortable in their own skin. But what if that person is already here?
At Labrot Boudoir, we’ve photographed people of every age, every body type, and every stage of life. Nearly all of them arrived with at least one reason they thought they should have waited. By the end of the session, many said the same thing. “I wish I had done this years ago.” Not because they looked different than they expected, but because they finally saw themselves without the constant voice of criticism they’ve carried for so long. A boudoir session isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about taking a moment to appreciate who you already are. The confidence, strength, beauty, and character you’re waiting to find are often the very things everyone else has seen all along.
There may never be a perfect time. There will always be another goal to reach, another obligation to meet, another reason to put yourself last. Maybe the better question isn’t, “Why now?” Maybe it’s, “If not now, when?” The photographs aren’t waiting for a future version of you. They’re meant to celebrate the person you are today. And that person is already enough.
